Amangiri, Utah
Amangiri is a luxe Utah resort, hidden away on 600 acres of protected desert valley and nestled on the border of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. The all-white and neutral hues of the retreat's structures blend into the landscape, and the grounds reflect the local flora of its natural surroundings, with the exception of some surprising fruit trees and Aspen's that are planted around the property. Wood accents and poured concrete comprise the primary architecture, simultaneously offering an air of austerity, and yet warmth. The rooms are well appointed, with built-in beds and furniture oriented to the beautiful desert or mesa's that are situated right outside your private patio, complete with fire pit.
A full spa and gym are available for use guests' use and enjoyment while at Amangiri, and its restaurant menu offerings are diverse and delicious. Nightly room rates are inclusive of all meals, snacks and non-alcoholic drinks, so you can laze poolside and order après-swim refreshments without having to touch your wallet. Any specific dietary need is accommodated as well.
If you want to take advantage of the myriad of hikes and excursions that are offered at Amangiri (think horseback riding, rock-climbing, hot air balloon rides and kayaking on Lake Powell), we recommend this destination for a two- or three-day stay. However, a more brief stay still allows you to experience the resort's many relaxing offerings (yoga, wellness coaching, and luxurious spa treatments) without feeling too rushed. We would also recommend Amangiri for an engagement, anniversary or birthday getaway, as it is a very romantic location that would be a wonderful setting for a celebration. Overall, this hidden gem of a resort has a friendly, relaxed vibe that reflects the good nature of its staff and guests.
