London, England
London is such a fabulous town. There's plenty to do and see, without even having to step foot inside a single restaurant or retail shop (although there are a few that we highly recommend visiting). Home to numerous World Heritage sites, as well as Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus and the oldest underground railway network in the world, London is one of the World's most historically vibrant cities, and one of our favorite places to travel. Here are a few of our top recommendations for places to see and stay, and things to do if you ever happen to find yourself in 'The Old Smoke' itself.
What to Do
Mayfair
Mayfair is one of the most beautiful areas in London. What other neighborhood boasts a Tadao Ando water sculpture as its centerpiece? Goyard, Celine, Balenciaga, Simone Rocha and Loewe are just some of our favorite boutiques along Mount Street.
For a real treat, visit Jessica McCormack’s personally curated townhouse, shop, studio and workshop located across from the Connaught Hotel. Jessica creates modern pieces using old world techniques. Her button back diamond settings are a perfect example of her unique style and approach. We also love her custom party jackets (show party jacket) that are designed to give your own rings new life. Jessica’s business partner is a seasoned art collector who frequently rotates his artwork throughout the studio. Nick Cave sculptures, Tom Price bronzes and artifacts from Jessica’s native New Zealand fill the studio and make you feel at home while you peruse the jewelry vitrines. (Show studio interior)
Farm Street Church
And don’t forget to take a walk through the park area behind Mount Street. It is quintessential London and a hidden jewel. The Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception, known as Farm Street Church welcomes guests to its beautiful, gracious and peaceful house of worship. It is truly worth a visit.
Where to Eat
Mount Street Deli
If you need a quick coffee or bite to eat, try the Mount Street Deli where you will find homemade sandwiches, salads and soups. They even have Sexy Fish sushi bentos to go.
Jamavar London
If you feel like resting your weary soles, dine at the chic Jamavar, known for its excellent Indian food in an updated street-food style. Try the butter chicken, assorted naan's and ginger-lemongrass lassi...after all, shopping can be a sport and you need refueling.
