Desert X
This Spring, make sure to take a day or two to go see DX19, otherwise known as Desert X — a biennial public art event that essentially transforms the Coachella Valley into a free plein-air gallery, with installations dotted around the region. Running until April 21, 2019, this second biennial event features 21 international artists and their site-specific installations — many of which showcase or give reference to their natural landscape. Instagram already seems to be lighting up with images of Sterling Ruby’s “Specter”.
We also highly recommend paying a visit to Kathleen Ryan’s “Ghost Palm.”
You can visit the DX19 website to procure maps and coordinates of each artwork, as well as more information about artists involved.
