Chihuly Garden and Glass
Seattle is home to one of the most unique art installations in the world, Chihuly Garden and Glass. Dale Chihuly, a native of Washington state, learned to blow glass in Wisconsin and continued honing his craft at Rhode Island School of Design as well as in Venice, Italy.
Pacific Northwest influences can be seen in series of works including Baskets, a piece resembling Native American basket stacks, as well as Navajo blanket patterns reflected in Cylinders. Grand palazzo chandeliers are reinterpreted into magnificent bursts of color, form and light and Chihuly’s garden is a fantasy of art in nature.
We highly recommend timing your visit to see an actual glass-blowing demonstration.
